In a city full of restaurants that range from tiny pizza places on the corner to some of the most expensive steakhouses in the state, it’s no wonder the competition to be the Best Boston Restaurant is so cutthroat. Most of the time, the bigger restaurants, and some of the smaller restaurants with bigger egos, will tell you they are the best place around for whatever reason.

In a city full of restaurants that range from tiny pizza places on the corner to some of the most expensive steakhouses in the state, it’s no wonder the competition to be the Best Boston Restaurant is so cutthroat. Most of the time,Describing the Best Boston Restaurant – Part 1 Articles the bigger restaurants, and some of the smaller restaurants with bigger egos, will tell you they are the best place around for whatever reason.

Don’t get me wrong, many of these establishments probably truly believe they are actually the Best Boston Restaurant, and that’s great for them - but it could be disastrous for you. But, have no fear; you are currently reading what you will soon come to regard as your Restaurant Bible. This is the beginning of a ten part series that will explore, in extreme detail, the factors that are critical to the best possible dining experience.

Because this is the first article in the series we will be starting off with the most basic aspect of a restaurant. This of course is in reference to what the name of the restaurant is. Most people overlook this extremely important detail but as an intelligent foodie you are of course aware of the importance. This is the first impression you get from a restaurant and, let’s be honest, if it sounds weird and awkward, eighty percent of the time the experience will be as well. This doesn’t mean you should ignore the creative names that people have given their eating establishments. If I’m going to take the time to go to your restaurant, invite my friends to come with me, actually drive there, and then eat, the name better be cool enough to talk about later.

A name isn’t just about what looks good on a sign or on a business card, it has to be about your restaurant’s personality and what kind of experience you will be providing, and you better be able to live up to that standard because Bostonians are not exactly known for their charming and forgiving personalities.  If your name makes it sound like your restaurant is going to give me some wicked dub-step music and a hell of a good beer, then that’s exactly what I want to see happen when I walk in - and if I don’t then you certainly are not the Best Boston Restaurant.

It may sound like I’m being overly critical and maybe I am overanalyzing it, but come on people, this is food we’re talking about! Essentially, I am entrusting this place with my stomach’s well being and usually it’s not for a small amount of money, either. So, take my advice, novice foodies. Research your next destination with care, don’t be afraid to over-think it, and make it fun. Perhaps even make it into a game for you and your friends. May I suggest a contest to see who can find the Best Boston Restaurant and the name has to include (insert adjective or random letters) and the winner has to be bought an alcoholic beverage of their choice?

Well readers, this concludes part one of your guide. Till next time; may your stomach take you on adventures that you won’t regret!
