As we previously discussed, location, parking and atmosphere play a huge part in making a restaurant one of the best. Parking in Boston has a huge effect on the location and atmosphere. Location entices different customers while the atmosphere invites them in.

Last week,Evaluating the Best Boston Restaurants Part 2 Articles we began evaluating the Best Boston Restaurants and what makes them so good. This week we will continue our evaluation based on restaurant menus, wait staff, family and entertainment friendly atmospheres. As we previously discussed, location, parking and atmosphere play a huge part in making a restaurant one of the best. Parking in Boston has a huge effect on the location and atmosphere. Location entices different customers while the atmosphere invites them in. Now we must decide on a menu price point.

The Best Boston Restaurants have menus that will make you melt. I am a sucker for desserts so I always judge a restaurant by their dessert menu. This may be an unfair judgment, but I would like to know what my options are after the meal. Once I have viewed the delectable goodies and decided they would do for after the meal, I will scope out the rest of the menu. From here I will read the menu normally, from appetizers to desserts. I am a fan of ordering multiple appetizers instead of one giant entrée, because I love to sample all a restaurant has to offer. This goes back to the mentality of looking at desserts first.

So with the Best Boston Restaurants menu in hand I judge salads of every variety, soups, starters and even sides. I look for all flavors and fresh ingredients.  I love fruit in salads so that is a huge plus when going out to eat. Fresh fruit is key, but I will settle for dried fruit if I have to. The types of fruit I look for in salads are apples, pears, oranges, mandarin oranges, strawberries, and blueberries. I also like walnuts and almonds in a fresh salad. Once I have settled on a delicious salad choice, I will move on to other starter items. I like vegetable starters like lettuce wraps, dips, or tapas.

I never skip over sides, either. Many people do not consider a side order and instead opt for a tasty addition to the meal. My friends and I have perfected the art of ordering on a budget while keeping flavor and substance in our diets. The best way to do this is by looking at all the side plate options. Many restaurants will offer different vegetable selections from the starter menu. As a person who used to be vegetarian this was always a nice way to feed myself in a sustainable way.

When I have decided on a combination of usually a soup, side salad, and starter, I will always check with whomever I am dining with to see what their choice is. I do this for two reasons. One, I am just a curious person and ask too many questions anyway. And two, I do not want to run the risk of unnecessarily over ordering or double ordering. So now that we have talked, we are ready to order. In our next edition we will continue this discussion about menus, ordering and the difference a happy wait staff can make.
