If your restaurant is located on the top floor of a building or shopping centre,Grease Management in your Establishment Articles it’s going to be hard to dispose of the grease properly. Just think of how far it has to travel to reach and sewers, and then once it reaches the sewers, what’s to say it’s not going to block them. As grease builds and builds over time, it becomes harder to remove. This is why all restaurants and anywhere that serves food should have a grease removal system in place. This not only prevents the build up of grease but can prolong the life of your restaurant and all in all help it run efficiently to the best of its ability with minimal problems.

If you look at your restaurant as a body and the drains as arteries (I know slightly cheesy, but a good comparison). The body consumes things such as food and liquids, food contains fat, too much fat and greasy foods can block your arteries causing major problems. Your body cannot process it properly meaning you are left with build up of fatty deposits storing themselves in your arteries. Imagine a restaurant being exactly the same. Food goes down the drain, grease goes down the drain and oils go down the drain. Just like your body would eat something. It then reached the drains and pipes and becomes stuck. This builds up and can cause major problems in your drains just as it would if it were in your body. So you can quite clearly see that it is vitally important to keep grease out of your drains and there are a few ways to manage this.

Blocks and powder which dissolve in water, they then degrade fat and grease in your drains. Using blocks and powder regular works wonders and can be quite cost effective although it is only recommended for drains that do not have major grease problems.

Another idea is to get a Fat Trap, they will separate grease from water so and oil that happens to get down the drain will instantly be removed from any flowing water. It is stored and can then be recycled. These are usually good for canteens, pubs and smaller restaurants and in the long run can work out so much more cost-effective.

If a Fat Trap is not for you then you could try an Enzyme Dosing System. What this does is releases an active bio fluid into your drains for the enzymatic digestion of fats and greases. This reduces the, right down to their carbon base. It is simply mounted on the wall and can work out easier and cheaper than a Fat Trap.

If you have a larger establishment a Grease Guzzler is the best bet. Grease guzzlers can be left unmanned and it comes in with the deal that a specialist will come and maintain it and check it every few month. Grease guzzlers will digest the fats, oils and greases into, ultimately, water and CO2. It doesn’t leave any foul odours or drain blockage.

If you implement one of these grease guzzling techniques then you can guarantee your establishment will last a lot longer and will also be a lot me eco friendly.
