How to Make Frozen Greek Yogurt

You can learn how to make your favorite dessert and make your own favorite flavors. Frozen Greek yogurt is very easy to make and once you have the hang of it, you may purchase it again.

If you have a deep love and appreciation for frozen Greek yogurt and are not always able to get the ice cream parlor so you can purchase a fresh pint when you run out, you should consider making your own homemade frozen Greek yogurt. It is a relatively simple process and you can make any flavor you like or experiment with flavors you have been dying to try. All you need is a clean workspace, a few supplies and some ingredients to get started. It is important that you make sure that any supplies, containers and ingredients you use are fresh, properly cleaned and in proper working condition.

If you have a fair amount of time on your hands, you may want to start off by making your own Greek style yogurt. If you do not have a decent amount of time on your hands or you are in a hurry, you may want to make sure that one of your ingredients is Greek yogurt from the market. It is best to start off with non-flavored or vanilla so you can add your own individual flavorings. Now this little tutorial will show you how to make enough for four people, if you need to make more, you will need to adjust the recipe accordingly.

You will need approximately three cups of Greek yogurt, some sugar, ice cream machine, vanilla extract and some fruit. You will need to put the freezer canister of your ice cream maker in the freezer at least 7 to 22 hours before you get started. Take your yogurt and remove the excess liquid by straining it. This will prevent the formation of ice later on. Use cheesecloth to remove the moisture by placing it in a bowl and pouring the Greek yogurt on top of it. This should be done several hours in advance. Leave the bowl in the refrigerator for several hours.

Take your strained yogurt and mix it with one teaspoon of real vanilla extract and a three fourths cup of sugar. Mix the ingredients well and cover with plastic. Chill the mixture for an hour in the refrigerator. Put the frozen canister in the ice cream maker and remove the yogurt from the refrigerator. Pour the mixture into the ice cream maker and allow it to churn until it has frozen enough and reached the desired consistency. This may take anywhere from several minutes to several hours. Once the desired texture has been reached, scoop the frozen Greek yogurt into small serving dishes and garnish by sprinkling some fruit and granola over the top.
