I never realised until my son was diagnosed with Coeliac (gluten intolerant) that many sausages contain breadcrumbs. I know sausages are not purely pork, beef or chicken, but I never expected to find breadcrumbs in them.
Yet I was shocked to discover when my doctor gave me a list of foods to avoid that sausages and even some beef burgers were on the list for containing gluten.
And since then, meal times have been awful…
In one fail swoop Samuel lost all of his favourite meats, and his food choices became really limited. And let me tell you, telling an 8 year he cannot have a burger because it contains gluten is not fun.
That was when I began my mission to seek out gluten free meats.
Butchers, supermarkets, online meat suppliers… over the last few months I have become some what of an expert on where to find gluten free foods.
Sausage meat, chilli burgers and Cumberland chipolatas… I can now give him all his favourite meats and ensure his meals are really satisfying.
In fact, the sausages I have found are more than gluten free. They are also wheat free, soya free, dairy free, egg free, yeast free and lactose free too. Perfect!
And it is really gratifying being able to find an affordable source for gluten free meat.
Sure Tesco may have got a decent range of general gluten free foods (bread, cakes, biscuits, pasta etc), but the only gluten free meat I could access was very limiting i.e. a pack of 8 pork sausages and a pack of 2 beef quarter pounds.
Take a look:
Their products are proof that you don’t have to sacrifice your taste buds in order to stay healthy. Hell, we all eat gluten free meat now as we can barely tell the difference in taste.
Cooking Meat For Baby
As a parent you want children to enjoy meat just as much as you do, and it is never too early to start. ...Argentinean Beef
Cattle were introduced into Argentina in 1536 by the Spanish Conquistadors. The Argentinean conditions mean the cattle bred very quickly. This, along with the newly invented refrigerated trains and ships created an export market that started to thrive.
