Jewish Chicken Recipe

Jewish cuisine has thoroughly evolved since its roots in the Middle East 2000 years ago.  Interestingly, Jewish food is still impressively preserved as a distinct cuisine even though most ancestors of the Jews migrated to different parts of the world throughout history.

The defining characteristics of Jewish food are its strict dietary laws and the distinct food served during holidays.  Jewish culture prohibits pork and shellfish in their diet.  In addition, you cannot eat meat with dairy products.  Even with these laws, the Jews love their share of Jewish chicken recipes, and many cultures have come to like Jewish chicken soups and other Jewish recipes that have chicken in them.

The Jews use chicken fat as cooking oil for different kosher recipes.  In a typical Jewish chicken soup, you will find liver and chicken meat mixed with onions, celery, and carrots.  Other garnishes included in a Jewish chicken soup include chicken eggs and other spices.



Traditional Jews only eat chicken meat after it is certified as kosher.  Before one can put meat into a Jewish dish, a sochet or a ritual slaughter is observed.  The slaughterer will drain the blood from the chicken, soak it in water for 30 minutes, and let it sit for another hour after salting.  Kosher meat should not be mixed with dairy.

 

The Jewish people also love their chicken fried just like any other culture.  In fact, fried chicken has evolved into different Jewish chicken recipes combined with the recipes of other cultures.  Jewish fried chicken is mostly served during Hanukah.  Jewish style fried chicken is popular because of its unique taste.  Usually, Jewish fried chicken is garnished with rosemary and garlic.



Italians especially love the way kosher chicken is cooked.  They usually combine the chicken with their own recipes to create a hybrid of tastes that everyone will enjoy.  To top it off, you can add other ingredients like cinnamon and nutmeg to bring out the taste of the chicken.
