Pizza played a big role on the television show Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Unfortunately, the slices in the show definitely did not resemble the real thing.

As a kid,Pizza and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Articles I loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Sure, they were anthropomorphic, which can be a little weird sometimes, but come on, turtles that can do ninjutsu? That's the best. Plus, the fact that they live in the sewers is hysterical. Though I didn't know it when I watched the show as a kid, it was originally a comic book. And that they had action figures! If I had known that, I totally would have bought one.

As a kid, I thought Leonardo was particularly cool, mostly because he used two katanas. I love katanas. They are such cool weapons. Michelangelo is definitely my second favorite, mostly because he was so funny and used nunchaku. I also loved orange as a child. Donatello was pretty cool and so was Raphael. Their master, Splinter, kind of creeped me out though. The fact that he was a mutant rat was really off-putting. Definitely a little creepy, but in hindsight, the whole show was a little weird. I mean, mutant turtles? That's ridiculous!

While I do love all of the turtles, Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael, I really loved April O'Neil. I wanted to be her. I wanted to be the cool, brave reporter that helps people fight crime and triumph over evil. Besides that, she was pretty. I also got a kick out of Shredder. He was hysterical. And Casey Jones was super cool. I wanted him to be my boyfriend. Though I will admit now that the fact that he wore a hockey mask to protect his identity and used sports items like, baseball bats, hockey sticks, golf clubs, and cricket bats, was kind of ridiculous.

Though I will say that the video game was amazing. "Turtles in Time" is still such an awesome game, and like all early video games, it is actually really hard! It's a side-scroller and sometimes the controls don't seem to speak well to the game itself. Though, perhaps that's just a reflection on my own skills.

But can we talk about the pizza that they eat for a second? That pizza doesn't even look like pizza. It looks like a gloopy ribbon of some kind of cheese. And the way that it stretched when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles picked it up to eat it was ridiculous. That is definitely not what eating pizza is like in real life. The only thing that was recognizable about it in the television series is that it looked like it had crust. But man, I wanted to eat that pizza. If they had put that in front of me as a kid, even though it looked slightly disgusting on the cartoon, I would have gobbled that up in a flash. I think the fact that it kind of looked disgusting was part of its charm, especially when I was a kid. And honestly, I would probably still eat it now as an adult, mostly because sometimes it is fun to do things that are a bit gross.
