Restaurants come in all price ranges and with menus and ambiance to suit an array of patrons. Although there are a zillion cafes,Restaurants & the People Who Eat There Articles chain eateries, 5-and-diners, buffets and bistros out there to choose from, most people have favorites that they return to again and again. If you want to know a lot about a person, find out which public places' menus he or she most likes. Here are some things to think about:

- Fast food joints: If a person only eats at fast food joints, it says several things. He or she doesn't really care much about the quality of foods and oftentimes doesn't care about his or her health. Some fast food places are healthy delis that make nutritious sub sandwiches on whole grain breads and these are the exceptions. If the fast food eatery is your more common burger-and-fries places, this cuisine is a recipe for heart disease and obesity. Remember the movie "Super Size Me?"

- Chain restaurants: In towns across the nation, there are chain eateries that look and taste exactly the same no matter the name of the city. Exact same menu, food choices and décor. Familiarity can be comforting, but it's also boring. So might be the people who consider "chains" their favorites.

- Vegetarian and organic: If everything on the menu is oh-so-pure, this can be a good thing. If the place has vegetables galore, calorie and fat content listed and bread baking 24/7, the patrons are health conscious and most likely liberal politically. If the chef looks like Jerry Garcia and actually did attend Woodstock, your friends who love this place are most likely hippies, young or old.

- Greasy spoon diners: Ah, comfort food! These places are reminiscent of the fifties when waitresses wore poodle skirts and roller skates. Menu items might be patty melts and Rueben sandwiches with chocolate malts. Breakfasts are hardy and include eggs that are sunny side up, hash browns and white toast that has been painted with grease rather than buttered. There is likely a glass case full of pies. The individuals who love these places probably love to rock to the oldies, know the words to Elvis songs, or frequently need to get rid of their hangovers with a hearty breakfast plate. These people are usually laid back and don't take themselves too seriously.

- Fine dining establishments: Hoity toity places where waiters wear tuxedos and prices don't even appear on the menu, because if you have to ask you can't afford it, are often proud of their cuisine's presentation. For fifty bucks you might get a gigantic white plate with 3 morsels of food arranged in a geometric pattern. You must wear a tie if you're male and ladies must place their handbags on a charming upholstered pedestal next to the table. People who consider these places their favorites are either trying to impress their companions, have money to burn, or are on an unlimited expense account for their company.

If you want to know a bit more about a person, ask about their favorite restaurants. Where they love to eat will tell you oodles about their personalities.
