Last week we began discussing The Best Boston Restaurants for Gourmet Burgers. We said that burgers are great on their own and it can be difficult to pass up a fatty delicious artery clogging fast food burger,The Best Boston Restaurants for Gourmet Burgers Part 2 Articles but it can be worth the wait. One blogger boldly stated that, “There are few dishes as versatile as the hamburger. The only other food that has developed the same cultural status of universal appeal is pizza. Both spring from humble origins, both are found served up hot and fast for frantic diners around the world, and both have made their way into fashionable restaurants under the guise of gourmet food.” We agree that burgers are a food with limitless flavor options. They can be baked, grilled or pan seared, stuffed, topped and smoldered.

To continue with our list of 5 ways to tell a truly authentic gourmet burger, we will quickly recap last week’s discussion:

1. Beef, it’s what’s for dinner:

For gourmet burgers, or just lean burgers in general, we recommend the least amount of fat. (This fattiness can be replaced with toppings and fillings, don’t worry!). The Best Boston Restaurants for gourmet burgers use lean meat in their burgers.

2. Prep and Cooking:

Don't Handle the Meat Too Much, Don't Press Down on the Burgers When Cooking, and remember to Make an Indentation in the Top!

Now on to the rest:

3. Its what’s on the Inside that Counts:

Stuffed gourmet burgers are in high demand these days. And who can blame these surprise loving burger hungry fanatics?! Any food item that is stuffed with more delicious food items is fine by me. Now to create a stuffed masterpiece it takes a few steps.

-Divide the meat into twice as many equal parts as the number of patties you are making. Do your best to make the portions as equal as possible.

-Once the meat is divided, form your portions into patties. Each patty should be thinly pressed and roughly the size of the buns you will be using. By doing this on a flat surface, you will not be touching the meat as much.

-Now its time for the stuffing. There are a few things to remember with delicious stuffy goodness, but the Best Boston Restaurants will have many nice options on hand.

-If you are using another meat, like bacon make sure to cook it first. Many gourmet burger experts also suggest cooking onions and mushrooms before using them as stuffing. Onions and             mushrooms release a lot of water as they cook and this will ruin your stuffed burgers so cook everything down and drain it completely before you stuff it in the burgers.

-Place the stuffing on half the patties. The amount of stuffing you put in each patty should be about 2-3 tablespoons. Remember that you will need to seal these up without having them burst at the seams. The Best Boston Restaurants always push the envelope with stuffing in their burgers.

Now that we are stuffed with great ideas, you will have to wait until next week to find out how this all tops off! We will move on to toppings, bun and side selection next week.
