Carpet Cleaning Remedy for a Tough Gravy Stains Encountered

Enjoying a dinner party at your home doesn't mean that you need to buy new carpets each time. Gravy tends to be thick and it has the potential to stain your carpet, especially if it is dark-colored gravy and contains staining agents like red wine, port wine, or gravy browning liquid, which works like a dye on your carpet and other fabrics.

No matter how neat you are, after a meal with gravy on the menu there are bound to be spots from the dripping gravy bowl. Never fear; they are not impossible to get out.So how to get it? keep it yummy aw keep it fast see how to work it out

A gravy stain is a combination stain, which means it contains both grease and creamy parts, depending on the gravy recipe. You need to remove both of these elements to remove the stain.

The first thing to do if you accidentally spill gravy on the carpet is to scoop up as much of it as possible, using a plastic spoon or spatula. Try not to make the stain bigger as you do this. If you spill a lot, you can use a wet/dry vacuum cleaner to get most of it up.

Moisten a cloth with rubbing alcohol and dab this on the gravy stain until most of it is removed. When there is no more gravy on the cloth, you are ready for the next phase. By the way, never pour rubbing alcohol on to the carpet without using a cloth. It will eat away at the carpet backing and padding. A dabbing motion with a cloth is better for the carpet and works just as well on the stain.

If you still have some of the stain left after using the rubbing alcohol and cloth, you can combine two cups of water with two tablespoons of dishwashing liquid or half a cup of vinegar. Spray this mixture on the carpet and dab at it, using a clean cloth. Rinse the carpet with water and dab it with a clean, dry cloth. Let the carpet dry for an hour.

Power of Peroxide

If you can still see the stain after using the above gravy stain removal carpet cleaning techniques, you will need some peroxide. Combine half a cup of peroxide with one cup of water and spray this mixture over the stained carpet.

Blot it up with a clean cloth. You should repeat this a few times. Spray the mixture over the stain and leave it for an hour. Vacuum the carpet. If you can still see the stain, repeat the process.

Another way to remove gravy from carpet is to sprinkle the stained part with cornstarch or baking soda and leave it for fifteen minutes. Vacuum the powder up and soak the stain in club soda.

Blot it until the carpet is dry. You might need to keep repeating this step until no more gravy is soaked up by the baking soda or cornstarch. If this does not work, try the vinegar and water or detergent and water method above.

When removing stains from carpet or upholstery, try not to apply more water than necessary. Water is not good for carpets, especially when you leave it on, since it can rot the carpet backing.

Accidents happen and gravy gets spilt. Knowing how to get gravy out of carpet means that your carpet can look like new again and you can make future homemade gravy recipes safe in the knowledge that you will know how to remove a gravy stain from carpet if it happens again.

The Fastest Way

The fastest way to clean up gravy stains in carpet, if you have the necessary equipment, is to use a spray bottle and wet-dry vacuum cleaner (a shop-vac). First suck out as much of the gravy as you can as quickly as you can. Then mix a quarter-teaspoon of a mild dish detergent (Dawn or Joy work well) with a pint of warm water, in a spray bottle.

Spray the gravy spot until it is thoroughly wetted, and vacuum the solution out. Do this repeatedly until you see no more gravy or discoloration in the carpet fibers. Then fill the spray bottle with plain water and repeat the same procedure in order to remove all detergent residue.

But after all the process tried and its not working after allScience Articles, the pros are just one call away
