Excellent Means of Reducing Risk of Color Fading During Carpet Cleaning Activity

Even if you have the most amazing maid services, many times a proper cleaning falls by the wayside. With all the stains that could possibly dirty up your carpet, it begs the question: does carpet cleaning fade carpet color?

Most people don't even recognize the cushy layer of fabric that covers their floors until there is a major blemish. If you're feeling overwhelmed by keeping your carpet clean, don't worry, you are not alone. Millions of people all over the world are simply uneducated on the proper way to prevent color fading and carpet cleaning.

Does Carpet Cleaning Fade Carpet Color?

The answer to that question is an astonishing yes. With the broad range of chemicals available to clean carpets it is not uncommon for a carpet to be subject to color loss. And the common culprit for color fading is often times bleaching agents. Many household items contain these chemicals. Perfumes, aerosol sprays, laundry detergents even pesticides. If there is a chance for it can get on the bottom of your shoe then it's probably in your carpet too.

A possible alternative to using damaging chemicals is to find natural, or home-made, carpet cleaners. These can often decrease damage to your carpet's fibers, extending the life of your carpet.

Look for carpet that is stain resistant

We've all heard of those amazing carpets that are stain resistant, and the truth is, they really work.  While they may cost you a bit more money up front, it will pay for itself in the long run.  Stain resistant carpets are great in living rooms, kid's rooms and rooms where much of your time is spent.  Find a good carpet cleaner and keep it handy for those accidents that are sure to happen.

Testing for Colorfastness

Colorfast carpet will not bleed, fade, or change when you are cleaning it or removing stains. Whether or not it is colorfast may change the cleaning method or products you choose.

Use Salt

Repeated washing of many fabrics has a tendency to knock out some of its punch when it comes to color or the intensity of the design or pattern. Likewise, sun can also do the same thing.

To help protect your fabrics, try tossing rugs into the wash with a tablespoon of salt. The chloride will help seal the color in and keep it looking fresher longer. It works for rugs, it works for scarves, it works for anything that's machine washable.

All you need is hot water and salt. The salt brightens faded fiber and guards against further discoloration. Some suggest that ammonia is a necessary ingredient. It's possible that would yield an even more impressive result, but this solution worked well too, and without being harmful to pets and children

Owning a Carpet Cleaning System

If you have light-color carpets and/or a house full of kids or pets, you might want to buy your own professional-style model designed for home use. Home carpet cleaners can save you money over the long haul when compared with hiring a pro several times a year. Keep in mind, thoughFree Web Content, that the unit you buy may not have the cleaning power that professional models do.
