  1. Have no meat on one day: Most people have a meat dish at least once a day, especially for dinner. There is nothing wrong with certain types of meat themselves, but having too much meat can lead to high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Try to go one day of the week having just veggie dishes. It will be much healthier than meat and cheaper too.
  2. Drink black coffee. Coffee is a staple in most people’s mornings, and since many people like lots of sugar in their coffee, you are starting your day off in an unhealthy way. This can be especially bad if you get specialty drinks from Starbucks or any other coffee shop, as they are usually packed with sugar. Try to convert towards black coffee. Taking out the sugar will be so much better for your health and you will still get the health benefits from coffee itself.
  3. Roast, not fry. Frying makes food tastes great but uses an unhealthy amount of oil. Roasting food makes food taste great as well, but uses much less oil and is much healthier. Roasted vegetables are a great side dish for any meal.
  4. Change the way you snack. Whether it’s at work or home, we love snacking throughout the day. And this is where a good amount of unhealthy weight gain can occur, but it’s also easy to replace with healthy snacks. Simply avoid processed foods and snack on fruits, veggies and nuts. Snacks that come in packages are usually loaded with sugar and lack any nutrition.
  5. Decrease buying lunch. Eating out a lot can become very unhealthy as well as expensive. Fast food meals contain a lot of sodium and usually lack fruit and vegetable choices. Start bringing your own lunch a few times a week. This will be a lot healthier and will save you some money as well.
  6. Eat veggies first. If you are able to get some veggies on your plate, that’s a great start. But try to finish them first before anything else. This will let you fill up on veggies, the good stuff, while keeping potential unhealthy foods like red meat and potatoes to a minimum.
  7. Cut out the soda. If there is one food or beverage choice that can win the prize for unhealthiness, it’s definitely soda. Soda is packed with sugar and has absolutely no nutritional value. It has been clearly linked to an increase in weight gain and diabetes. If you simply replace drinking soda with water, you will do yourself much good. While not as bad, diet sodas are still not the best. They can cause you to eat more and are still bad for the teeth.
