Autism treatment – There are many reasons why a medication, even a homeopathic one, requires a prescription. Understand why Respen-A requires a prescription and where you can find a pharmacy that dispenses it.

I hear from many people about whether Reserpine in the form of Respen-A is considered a homeopathic medication. Reserpine is listed both as an allopathic drug and also through the HPUS which is a system for homeopathic medications. The dosage of Reserpine in Respen-A is what we call in homeopathic range. You may find different arguments between conventional homeopaths. But the dosage range of Respen-A is .01 mg and that is considered homeopathic through the HPUS system.

It falls under the category of a prescription due to the fact that it must be compounded since it is not currently being manufactured. So basically any medication would be considered a prescription medication and need to be compounded if it is altered in any way. So lets say you wanted to turn powdered Nystatin into an oral suspension. You would need a prescription and the medication would need to be mixed with flavoring in a special compounding pharmacy. Even taking something over the counter like Aspirin and making it an oral suspension would require a prescription and would need to be compounded. You would need to add flavorings and those changes would require compounding at a special pharmacy. So Respen-A is a prescription medication that requires specially compounding through a compounding pharmacy since it is not currently being manufactured.

There are several compounding pharmacies around the country that can prepare Respen-A, the main one is called Custom Prescription Shoppe and is located in Washington State. The other compounding pharmacies that can prepare Respen-A include Hopewell Pharmacy in New Jersey, Wellness Pharmacy down in Alabama also dispenses it and there may be a few others at the time of this recording which is October 2010. So that makes three main pharmacies in the US and there also is one pharmacy in Canada as well to my knowledge that can dispense Respen-A. If you want more information on where you can get your prescription for Respen-A filledFind Article, you can check their website which is www.respen-a.com.
