If you,Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder – but only with 20 20 vision Articles like most people in the world, never think of your eyes until something goes wrong then perhaps you should at least take the time out to visit an optician in your area.  After all your eyes are the only ones that you have, and because they the only ones they are totally irreparable and totally irreplaceable.  If your eyes are irreparably damaged, you will not get a second chance.  So beware and have your eyes tested on an annual basis Eye Care in Stroudsburg PA is an essential part of your general good health.

Over the years poets and songwriters have waxed lyrical about eyes - That great romantic, Shakespeare wrote “For where is any author in the world Teaches such beauty as a woman’s eye”.

When you visit an optician you will have your eyes tested for many things such as near sightedness, far sightedness, astigmatism or poor night vision.  Of course when you are reaching that time in your life so glibly called ‘middle age’ then, if you have been lucky enough not to have had to visit an optician before, then this would be about the right time to make an appointment for an eye test with your Eye Care practitioner.

You may have noticed that your eyes have suddenly become sensitive to light, or that you are having head aches from what you think is probably eye strain.  Well then, it is time to make an appointment and have your eyes tested.  After arriving at the optician you will be taken through to an examination room and given a very simple eye test.  Basically you will be asked to read some random letters on chart on the wall opposite you.  There is absolutely nothing to worry about, no pain, no poking around in your eyes, no uncomfortable drops.  Just a relaxing short time in a chair and you will be told there and then whether you need to wear eye glasses in future.

If your Eye Care specialist discovers a problem during your examination, you will of course be referred to an expert in that particular field.  However for most people, an optician will in most instances be the only person you will need to refer to.

Your Eye Care specialist will be able to fit and supply you with contact lenses if that is your preference.  You will be referred to sub specialists in ophthalmology if necessary or if considered necessary give you a referral to an endocrinologist if he thinks that you may be a diabetic.

If you already wear eye glasses and have decided it is time for you to wear bifocals then your optician will give you all the advice you need.   Remember also that your optician will also be able to give you prescription sunglasses for driving and if you have done the unspeakable and broken your eyeglasses you can have them fixed at your local optician.
