At present, the mankind is facing several psychological and physical problems and diseases. However, one problem that has increased significantly in the present years and the ratio of which is increasing is Depression.
Depression had been a common phenomenon among adults; however, it has increasingly become a common phenomenon among teens as well. 10 to 15% of the teens are depressed at one time to another therefore; the need is to address this matter. The lines below give details of the causes of teen depression and the recuperating measures. Causes of Teen Depression: There can be several causes of depression among teen agers, however, the few major and most common ones are:
Parental conflicts without or with divorce lead to depression among teens, as they get depressed because of the conflicts between the parents.
Maternal depression is another major cause of teen depression, as mothers interact more with children; therefore, if the mother is depressed or a patient of depression then it is easily passed on to the children.
Poor social skills is another reason that causes depression among teens as they are not able to socially interact with other fellows causing them to bear their worries in isolation, thus leading to depression.
Pessimistic attitude of teens is another reason that may lead to depression. Pessimistic teens do not share thus keep all what they have to themselves resulting in undue pressure.
As teens themselves have less to do with depression, and the depression among them is a product of external factors, therefore, it is the external factors that need to be altered in order to reduce depression among teens.
Firstly, the teachers and pediatricians are the ones that need to be trained to interact with a depressed person or the ones who shows the signs of getting into depression. If they play their role well depression can be reduced.
Secondly, if there is conflict between the parents then they need to resolve it via coupleís therapy. This issue of parents has a direct impact on the children therefore; the more happy couple the happier would be the teens, thus resisting depression.
Thirdly, medication or therapy is necessary. As hormone replacement therapy is an effective treatment for testosterone deficiency, similarly, for depression in teen there is a need to make them go through therapy as early as possible so that they donít cause any harm to themselves.
In short, depression is a problem that has very severe implications, therefore, teens need to be taken care of with extreme caution and affection, so that they donít do anything regrettable with themselves and live a healthy and happy life.
