Common Causes of Anxiety Attacks

There are many different ways that a person can acquire a panic disorder, and thus many different causes of anxiety attacks. One person's anxiety trigger could be totally different from the next person's, but there are a few common traits that have been proven to result in anxiety attacks. Researchers have discovered a few specific things that can increase anxiety conditions ranging from biological to life experiences.

Before we can go over the causes of anxiety attacks, you need to understand that there are a lot of different things that can happen to people that result in anxiety disorders. While one person might get set off by a specific thing, the same situation might be laughable to another, however, there are a few things that have been proven to affect anxiety attacks. Medical experts have concluded that environmental, biological, psychological, cultural, and life experiences can all lead to panic and anxiety disorders.

Firstly, some people have a genetic predisposition for anxiety and panic episodes. You shouldn't quit on being free from anxiety, but there is evidence that heredity and the environment you grew up in can lead to anxiety problems. There are studies that conclude that anxiety conditions can run in families. Many times identical twins have been known to share an occasional predisposition for anxiety and panic attacks. While non-identical twins also share a less intense link in anxiety conditions. Some research also tells us that anxiety can be learned from our parents when we are little.

Some causes of anxiety attacks can be linked to personality. Some personality types have a higher rate of acquiring anxiety disorders. People that have low self-esteem may also run a greater risk for attaining anxiety attacks. If you have not formed effective ways of coping with stress from day to day life you also may have more frequent anxiety attacks. Perfectionists often experience anxiety attacks and nervous breakdowns when their demands on how things should be are not met. These personality traits can always be changed by changing our beliefs.

The causes of anxiety attacks can also be linked to certain events in our lives. Abusive and violent life circumstances tend to influence a person's probability of panic attacks, usually when the cover a long time period. If you have endured difficult life circumstances you may wish to find counseling or other treatment options to move past these experiences.

Some medical problems have a noted influence in a person's level of overall anxiety. Increased amounts of anxiety have been seem in cases of diabetes, high blood pressure, and overactive thyroid glands. Often times the worry associated with a serious medical condition can increase your anxiety.
