The da Vinci surgery has been the talk of the town for several years already. Those in the know have a pretty good of how effective this technique is for minimally invasive procedures. This means that operations that can be done using a laparoscopy are good candidates for this type of surgical technique. The medical world and their patients have been abuzz with this unique technique due mainly to the fact that the method involves robotics. A general explanation of the technique is that it is a medical operation in which a surgeon controls several robotic arms that handle the instruments. These arms are the ones that will make the smaller incisions which will allow them access to the root of the problem. Valuable 3D views allow the surgeon to fully operate the robotic arms as well as have some form of sensation. The sensation allows he surgeon to react accordingly to what he can feel as well as see though the 3D video.

Ideal Operations

There are several ideal operations that will benefit from a da Vinci surgery. These include those that can be done with a minimum length of 1-2 cm incisions. This length basically means that there are a lot of procedures that will benefit from this technology. Many of the laparoscopic operations are good candidates for a robotic surgical procedure. These include,Da Vinci Surgery Advantages and Features: An Innovative Practice Articles but are not limited to, laparoscopic operations on some forms of cancers, such as kidney, throat and thyroid cancers.

Problems with the uterus such as heavy bleeding, fibroids and prolapses can also be resolved with this type of technique including endometriosis. Some, but not all of the cardiologic operations are also good candidates for the da Vinci surgery procedures like a cardiotomy procedure, coronary artery disease solutions and mitral valve issues. Other possible surgeries that can be done with it are those for the resolution of acid reflux disease, obesity and some others.

Advantages

There are several advantages and benefits from using the da Vinci surgery methods. One of the more glaring benefits of this method is the fact that the incisions need not be so big and lengthy. Being small ones, they heal faster and have a smaller risk of developing an infection. Another advantage is a shorter recovery period for the patient. This is due mainly to the smaller incisions and less trauma on the body. The hospital stay will also be shorter before the patient is discharged and able to go home to continue his or her recovery period. The pain and discomfort that comes with a major operation is basically lesser than with a traditional open surgery. Other benefits and advantages include potentially better clinical results.

The efficiency of the surgeon combined with the robotic arms and implementation almost always assures the patient of a successful operation. Using it for a remote operation is also possible but not always recommended by the surgeons.

The da Vinci surgery technique is still evolving but so far it is a very good method and has earned a lot of praise from different surgeons in the field.
