For normal bedding and linens, it's easy for dust, dead skin cells, pet dander, and other irritants, to get lodged in the fibers of these items. Most linens have very loosely woven fibers where these elements can lodge and stay. With allergy bedding the fibers are typically woven much tighter so that there are less "pockets" for these things to settle into. This type of bedding also works to encase your entire bed so that you have less dust and dust mites that can settle into your actual mattress and box springs.

When you have irritants that settle into your mattress it really doesn't matter what your linens are as you'll always have allergens that lodge close to your skin.

So if you have an interest in allergy bedding, what items should you invest in or should you just purchase every product out there for maximum protection?  In reality most allergy sufferers do well to purchase at least pillow covers and sheets.  Why is this?  It's been said that a pillow increases some 10% in weight in one year due to dust mites, dead skin cells, and other elements that get inside.  Buying a good pillow cover as part of your bedding is always recommended!  And after ten years the average mattress actually doubles in weight because of dead skin cells and other irritants as well.  Many people make it a practice to vacuum their mattress with the vacuum cleaner hose every month or so in order to cut down on this occurrence.  By purchasing allergy bedding that includes sheets or a cover for your mattress you're going to protect your skin and your lungs from breathing in these elements during your sleep.

Remember too that dust mites and things such as these that are found in your bedding are not just a cause of allergies but can also cause asthma and skin rashes as well.  These elements can get into your lungs and settle on your skin, so that you can have many different types of allergic reactions.  By investing in anti-allergy type of bedding you can protect your lungs, your skin, your respiratory system, and everything else from sensitivity and irritants.

Keep in mind too that allergy bedding is usually just as affordable as any other type of linen so consider it as a worthwhile investment in your overall health.

If you do develop allergies from your bedding consider taking Quercitin.  Quercitin is a very powerful antioxidant and can reduce inflammation boost the immune system and strengthen blood vessels and improve circulation.  Quercitin is also known for its ability to block the release of histamines, thus reducing or preventing allergy symptoms.  Take 500 mg twice daily.

A number of studies have suggested that taking antioxidants such a Vitamin A reduces the risk of bronchial-constriction.  Vitamin A is stored in the liver and fat cells of the human body and can reach toxic levels.  DO NOT take more than the recommended dosage of Vitamin A.
