Revised Guidelines

India's revised stem cell guidelines aims to protect patients from doctors offering unethical stem cell treatments. According to the regulatory guidelines stem cells cannot be given to patients as a “Therapy” and can be used only in "clinical trials" after approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), except the use of haematopoietic (blood forming) stem cells for treating disorders of blood.
