As I've written before,Two Simple Methods for Gallstones Pain Relief Articles I've recently been diagnosed as having gallstones, and I don't want to have gallstones surgery at this time. While my gallstones generally don't cause too much pain, they do flare up from time to time, especially when I eat food I shouldn't eat, in particular greasy or fatty foods.

When this gallstones pain flares up, I quickly look for some sort of pain relief. Over the counter drugs like Tylenol and ibuprofen offer some relief, but there are two other techniques that provide a surprising amount of gallstones pain relief.

Method 1 - Drink water

The first gallstones pain relief cure is very simple. As soon as you have gallstones pain, or even before you have any pain at all, make sure you drink a lot of water. If I have a gallstones pain flare-up, I drink a glass or two of water, and within an hour the pain is gone, or it's at least tolerable. This is an amazing -- and amazingly simple -- cure.

Method 2 - Warm castor oil packs

A second way to get relief from my gallstones pain is to apply a warm castor oil pack to the area. This healing approach was first recommended by Edgar Cayce many, many years ago, and I have to say, it works.

Here's how to apply a castor oil pack to your gallbladder area:

  1. Buy a bottle of castor oil.
  2. Dip an old cloth in the castor oil until the cloth is saturated in the oil. This cloth can be cheesecloth, an old flannel shirt, or some other thick material that can absorb and hold the castor oil.
  3. Wring out the cloth just a little so the castor oil doesn't drip all over and make a mess.
  4. Place the saturated cloth just above your stomach and to your right. If it isn't obvious from the pain, your gallbladder is located just under the top of your ribcage, on the right side.
  5. Place a heating pad on top of the cloth, and turn it on a warm but comfortable temperature. Some people use a hot water bottle, but I use a heating pad set on a moderate temperature. I place some plastic wrap between the heating pad and castor oil cloth to keep the heating pad from being exposed to the oil.
  6. Rest comfortably on your back while the heated castor oil does its work. Set a timer so you don't fall asleep. I recommend not doing this for more than 20-30 minutes.
  7. Remove everything from your stomach/chest, and clean it all up.

You can do this several times a day, and as you'll quickly find, it feels great. Some people claim this will actually cure your gallstones problem, but I won't go that far. I'll just say that it provides some nice gallstones pain relief.
