What Goes Into A Cancer Diagnosis?

A cancer diagnosis is one thing that most people fear because in many cases it's not just the start of long and sometimes painful treatments that are at the very least life changing and at the very most could lead to your death. It can be a scary and confusing time and one that will leave individuals feeling at many times both alone and discouraged.

Even if you are surrounded by friends and loved ones you will most likely feel very cut off by this illness because there are no words to describe the helpless feelings that go along with this incredibly complex illness and of course the treatments that go along with it. While most individuals at least attempt treatments at least at first in an attempt to grab hold of life. Unfortunately, most men and women instead find that the treatments destroy their ability to live and instead impede even the simplest of life's activities. When it comes to grabbing hold of life many find that stopping the treatments and just living as long as they can naturally is a better way to go.

Cancer can be, but doesn't have to be very painful and a lot of people remain relatively pain free and if they do not then they can usually receive high doses of pain medications to help keep the pain under control. In many of these cases the people opt to receive at home care known as hospice care. This type of care is some what free when it comes to providing the patient with everything they need to keep them comfortable and will usually allow for very high doses of pain rellieving medications such as morphine to be administered right from home.

Cancer has a very low cure rate and no one is really sure exactly why it seems that there is little that can be done by the medical profession in the attempt to cure Cancer. Unfortunately, in most cases the best anyone seems to be able to do is to hold it off or slow it down for a period of time. In most cases even with treatment it is only a matter of months or years before the cancer resurfaces or spreads to another location in the body.

A cancer diagnosis is a big thing and can be extremely difficult to deal with. When it comes to getting treatment, there are options out there which can extend your life and make it more bearable but it is important to make sure that you also continue to live because life is too short with or without a Cancer diagnosis.
