Any type of coconut oil is good for acne treatment,What Type of Coconut Oil is Best for Acne? Articles except for the hydrogenated type because hydrogenated oil can clog your pores and make your acne worse. But if you're looking for the best type of coconut oil for acne treatment, I would strongly recommend virgin coconut oil.

Why virgin?

This is because virgin coconut oil contains a full set of antibacterial and anti-toxin compounds. Why do we need these compounds?

I'm sure you're no stranger to acne bacteria. We need extremely potent antibacterial agents to fight acne bacteria so as to keep their numbers low and in check or else they'll multiply to the point that triggers inflammation.

The oil of coconut generally carries the antibacterial lauric acid, caprylic acid, capric acid and myristic acid. And of these fatty compounds, lauric acid is the most potent. And since the virgin tropical oil contains the greatest amount of lauric acid (about 50%), it naturally is the best type for controlling acne bacteria and other local bacteria that may also have a share in causing acne.

As for anti-toxin, most people seem to know only one thing - oily skin is acne-prone. But do you really know what actually causes oily skin? It is toxin. Shocked? Let me explain.

Our liver is in charge of regulating androgenic hormones that in turn control the secretion of sebum, the natural skin oil that lubricates and protects your skin. However, when it gets overburdened with toxins that you ingested via bad diets, its function to regulate hormones fails, leading to excessive sebum production, making your skin oily.

Therefore, you need the strong anti-toxin virgin coconut oil to help relieve your liver of the toxic load so that your liver can return to its function of regulating hormones. Lauric, caprylic and capric acids, and short-chain fatty acid like caproic acid are what make the oil of coconut detoxifying. And virgin coconut oil possesses all of them. Refined or fractionated type may contain only one or two types of the fatty acids, which are of course less detoxifying.

Considering the facts above, virgin coconut oil is best for acne treatment.

But you have to get yourself prepared for a more severe acne breakout. What do I mean?

Because it's more detoxifying than any other types, virgin coconut oil tends to draw more toxins up to the surface of your skin and hence, can result in more whiteheads or pimples breaking out in the process of treating your acne.

Of course, if you have less toxin building up in your body and beneath your skin, your acne will probably clear up nicely few days after applying the virgin oil without getting any severe breakout. But if you have more toxins amassed inside, you're more likely to encounter the healing crisis - your acne will get worse before it can get better with the oil.

Sounds scary? No matter what, virgin coconut oil is always the best type for acne treatment.
