Every lady wants to feel glamorous when she goes out in the evening and there are few better ways to do this than by wearing a beautifully designed necklace studded with sparkling diamonds.   Diamond necklaces can be both elegant and stylish and there are few items of jewelry that will enhance your appearance as surely as necklace carefully selected to suit the occasion and the outfit.  There are actually three distinct types of necklace which can be differentiated by the length of chain: the choker length, the princess length, and the opera length.  

 

Choker length diamond necklaces are usually 14-16 inches long and fit the neck snuggly slightly above the collarbone.  The necklace is intended to highlight the neck so the thickness or number of strands needs to be proportional to the length of your neck.  Diamond chokers will add a touch of glamour to any outfit and go with just about any neckline. 

 

The Princess length of 17-19 inches is the most popular length for diamond necklaces.  It can be worn with high or low necklines and the only rule is not to have the bottom of the chain or diamond pendant at the same height as the collar.  A princess length necklace with a diamond pendants is a guaranteed eye-catcher when worn with low, plunging necklines. 

 

The last type, the opera length diamond necklace, is 28-34 inches long.  It is more dramatic than the shorter lengths and add style to formal dresses and tops.  Some women wear them to draw the eye away from the neckline and toward the chest area.
