WOW Rogue Leveling & Quest Guide

Guide for leveling your world of warcraft rogue.

The Rogue is the primary DPS dealer of world of warcraft without question. The Rogue is able to jump into combat, take out its' enemies and then get back to safty like no other world of warcraft class. Despite it's limitations to cloth and leather armor and no healing abilities, the Rogue can do DPS damage like no other class. The Rogue uses a series of disengage's, interrupt's and stun's to inflict serious DPS before the enemy can react. With all this specialization of the Rogue there there are some expected setbacks to playing a Rogue. The Rogue has no long range damage dealing attacks which keeps the Rogue in melee or lurking in the shadows. In a nutshell, the Rogue is played a bit like a warrior but can't stay in battle as long due to its limited defensive ablilities.

WOW Rogue Leveling & Quest Guide

Lets take a look at the race's available to the Rogue:

Which race you choose as a Rogue will make a big difference in the long run. Each race will benefit the Rogue differently, so take some time and see which one is to your liking.

Races available to the Alliance:

The Lockpicking skills of the Rogue works quite well with the Find Treasure abilities of the dwarf race. Although not being the first choice to a Rogue, as a dwarf you will be able to use a mace. Stoneform helps against bleeds, diseases and poisons.
The Escape Artist ability of the gnome is naturally a nice fit for the Rogue, and since the gnome's have Engineering you can have many useful item's otherwise not available.
The human race is good for most classes but doesn't do much for the Rogue. Their Sword and Mace ability is not really the Rogue's style, but their Diplomacy and Every Man for Himself skills give some help.
The Rogue will benefit from the night elves cloaking skill known as Shadowmeld and the Rogues ability to dodge will be increased by 1%.

Races available to the Horde:

The blood elf has Magic Resistance which the Rogue would not have otherwise and Arcane Torrent is quite handy to any class.
The orcs Hardness is a great help to a Rogues defenses and Blood Fury makes the Rogues all ready awesome DPS even better.
Troll's seem kinda wierd as a Rogue but they do help fight enemies crowd control using Da Voodoo Shuffle, self healing with Regeneration and increased damage using Berserker.
If your into the undead thing you can use Will of the Forsaken in PVP and Cannibalize to self heal rather than having to rest all the time.

The Rogue starts out with Eviscerate, Throw and the Sinister Strike attack. Stealth is available to purchase.

At level 4 Backstab and Pick Pocket become available, be sure to learn to use these right away but don't use them exclusively, Sinister Strike, Throw and Eviscerate will still be very effective to the Rogue.

A new attack called Gouge comes up at level 6, it's a very good attack but you can also level up Sinister Strike to level 2 making it even better. Eviscerate should still be used as a finishing move.

You can level up Eviscerate to level 2 when your Rogue reaches level 8 and to help you escape combat learn Evasion.

When level 10 is reached you will want to start considering which way you want to specialize your Rogue. Take a good look at your different talent tree's to help you decide how you will want to use your talent point's. Leveling up to level 16 or so you should have your specialization pretty much figured out, and be well on your way to being a skilled Rogue.
