Your garage floor is part of the family. I know, I never put that together before either. It gives years and years of tireless service and never asks a thing. Well now is the time to do something nice for it in return.

My poor garage floor deserves better. It has done nothing to deserve the abuse it has suffered at my sometimes careless hands. There it is just minding it's own business,A Garage Floor Deserves More Articles when, "Wham!", a hammer or other heavy tool hits it and chips away part of the concrete, just because I wasn't being careful. Or, right when it thinks everybody is being careful and there is nothing to fear, "Slosh!", there goes about a quart of stain splashing out of the gallon in a moment of careless mindlessness when I forget to pay attention and knock the can into the bench when I turn to soon. I feel bad, I really do.

A garage floor shouldn't have to suffer the indignities that they do. I mean, none of us would like it if somebody plopped a bunch of goop on us, haphazardly wiped it up and left the residue there only to leave a permanent stain on our forehead. Think about the selfless service that your garage floor gives you. It serves tirelessly and thanklessly year after year. Nobody even talks to it. It just keeps taking the weight of your cars, taking the cuts and bruises inflicted, and the utter embarrassment of being ugly and drab.

Well, it's time for a change and I have a few ideas that will make every garage floor as happy as a clam and as proud as punch. First, why not take a Saturday morning and take everything out of the garage. Yep, all of it. Why? So you can give it a good washing down. Sweep it out, spray it out. Get all the dirt and grime you can out of there. After that, why not think about applying a nice coat of concrete stain or paint. They come in lots of colors and can be applied creatively. Your garage floor will be so proud. Or, you could get some of those nifty interlocking garage tiles and lay a bunch down in a cool pattern. These not only look great, but also preserve the floor. Would that be too much to ask?

If you are a little more sensitive to the needs of your floor you might consider purchasing some epoxy coating for it. This will make your garage floor the envy of the neighborhood. I can only imagine the little wiggle of delight that your floor will make when it proudly displays a new color and protective coating. It is, afterall, part of the family. And I know you want to make a complete penance for those years of neglect.

After everything is dry and all your stuff is back in it's proper place, you should try to resolve to spend some quality time with your garage floor. Maybe at night, after all the kids have gone off to bed, and your wife is curled up somewhere in the house with her favorite book. You could take just a few seconds to open the garage door and say a few nice words to your new garage floor. It doesn't have to be much. Just a little, "hey handsome", or, "lookin' good there sunshine." It's not so much what you say as that you say it at all. Don't allow yourself to fall back into old habits. After all it has done for you and your family, a kind word now and then or some new paint or mats will do wonders. Make it a priority to include your garage floor from time to time and it will never abandon you or let you down.
