In order for your home to receive power, the electricity that flows through your home has traveled a long ways. With the use of electrical transformers, the energy that powers your home and appliances is much safer and inexpensive.

Electrical transformers are used to manipulate the flow of electricity,A Guide to Electrical Transformers Articles which is done by altering the voltage from one path to another, usually by downgrading the amount of voltages. This allows electricity to move faster and flow easier while traveling over long distance.

There are several kinds of electrical transformers. The most commonly used type is the power line transformer. They can be huge in size; these are used in many industrial facilities and power plants. There is a medium sized one that is used on the electrical poles that you see outside. There is also the smaller type that can be found in home appliances and electronics. There are even very miniscule transformers that can be found in microphones.

Electricity has to be able to travel long distances and in order for that to occur, it has to be transformed into a different state or level. The higher the voltage, the less stable it is and less able it is to travel very far. If the energy is changed unto a more stable form, then it can reach its destination in a timely manner. With the use of electrical transformers, it is continuously downgraded in energy level until it has reached where it needs to be.

Think of it this way; when electricity is disbursed from a power station, it is already in a high voltage state that is very unstable. Once it has reached its first destination, which is usually a substation, the voltage has been lowered. Once it reaches the next platform, which is smaller than the first, the energy is lowered again. The energy will continue to travel this way until the electricity reaches its destination in a more stable state.

When electricity leaves the station, it is usually in a high-energy state. When it reaches its first destination, the voltage is converted into a lower voltage state. Once the electricity comes in contact with a smaller transformer, it is converted down a level again. It is a process that continues until the power is at a usable level.

If you have ever paid attention the electric poles in your neighborhood, you may have noticed that there are coils on them. These coils are the electrical transformers. It is through these coils electricity flows. The more coils you see, the larger the amount of voltage they are able to handle. The invention of these devices has changed the world. Electricity is less likely to be wasted and can be used in more efficient ways.

Since living in close proximity to power plants has been deemed unhealthy, no one has to do so in order to receive power to their homes. In fact, it doesn't matter how far you live from the plant, you receive the same amount of power in the same time frame, as you would have from living closer.
