What has happened to my lovely, large house? That's a question that I have recently found myself asking and it may also reflect your own views. There's an issue here that can be seen to confront many home owners after a period of time.

When we moved into our present property,Add More Space To Your Home Articles there was an expectation that we'd be able to benefit from living in a spacious home. We'd be spending many years here and this was the place where we would be able to entertain guests and relax as a family.

At least, that was very clearly the plan. But it's fair to say that things have changed and one of the biggest transformations occurred when we came to realise that children require a lot of room. It might be more accurate to state, in fact, that having more people living in the house makes it feel like there's a lot less space.

This may all seem perfectly obvious, but the truth is that we didn't quite expect things to turn out this way. You may find that you are questioning why we never imagined that this would be the case. I think it probably comes down to the fact that kids are pretty small, to begin with at least, while we also felt that we could control the amount of toys and clutter that would be present.

So it's pretty clear that we hadn't thought about how quickly kids grow. We also hadn't considered the fact that they like to spend time with friends. This can often mean that we end up hosting a lot of people. Then there's that whole issue of toys and our failure to keep things under control.

Like many parents, we obviously didn't see this as being such a great problem at the outset. The problem is, of course, that the toys tend to get bigger as children get older. They are also meant, as would seem obvious, to be played with. This means that it's unreasonable to expect that they should always be hidden from view.

So that's an explanation of the cause of the problem, but what about the impact on our lives? It's meant that we've come to realise that we simply need more space. Could we consider moving to a new home? That might be possible, although it seems like an expensive option and one that will involve a great amount of disruption.

Instead, we've been looking at the possibility of building a conservatory. That's a pretty good way to add space and you can even buy DIY conservatories via the Internet these days. If you're in the same situation, then this may well be worth considering.

As an alternative, you might be able to look at loft conversions, or building an extension. The important thing here is to take steps to ensure that you have more room available to you.
