Carpets appeal to many people for obvious reasons. They're luxurious,An Innovative New Carpet Option To Suit Every Household Articles they're soft, and they're cozy. But committing to wall to wall carpeting is a serious investment. Affording the installation and the carpeting itself may not be the problem, but once it is installed, it must be perfectly maintained. If one chance spill permanently stains it, or if one naughty puppy shreds even the smallest section, the entire carpet must be removed and replaced. That's a daunting commitment to take on, even if one doesn't have pets, children, or wild parties. And even the initial installation can pose many inconveniences.

And if you rent or are planning to move in the future, you have yet another reason to forego your desired carpets. You can't pack up your carpet and take it with you when you go. If you rent and convince your landlord to put in the carpet of your choice, you can still be forced to pay for it, if it sustains damage, leading to lost deposits or huge fees for professional removal and installation of a new wall to wall carpet.

But a new type of carpet has appeared on shelves that addresses all of these issues. Known as modular carpet, it can make your dreams come true if you've wanted carpets but resisted having them because of the difficulties posed by keeping them in spotless condition.

How are modular carpets different? Well, the primary difference is that they are produced in small squares rather than by the roll. Regular carpets, as you know, come in heavy, unmanageable rolls that have to be cut to size and then installed by professional carpet layers. You yourself can install modular carpet, easily.

Using a unique method that relies on sturdy but removable adhesive tabs, modular carpet squares attach to one another instead of the hard surface that you've chosen to cover. You may already be familiar with snap together hardwood flooring; this method is very similar.

Because of this, if damage occurs to a small section of carpet, you can remove just that section to be cleaned or replaced--paying only for the damaged or stained section, rather than an entire new carpet. And if you do decide to move, you don't lose your investment. Simply lift the squares out one by one, and take them with you to your new home to be reinstalled.

Overcoming the obstacles posed by traditional carpets isn't the only thing that makes modular carpeting innovative, either. Squares produced by the same company are interchangeable across colors and styles. If you're the creative type, you can mix textures and patterns and have truly unique flooring, something impossible to accomplish with old fashioned conventional carpets.

And if your budget won't allow for a complete wall to wall project right now, no need to put off beginning. You can start by creating area rugs, carpeted alcoves, or hallway runners. These can be connected over time to achieve wall to wall coverage.

Modular carpets may be exactly what you're looking for if you've found the inconveniences of regular carpeting too great in the past.
