Mice will do their best to find a warmer place to stay as the weather gets colder and wetter with the approach of winter.  They will populate the attic,Beware; as Winter Approaches Mice Love your Warm House Articles basement, or other locations humans do not frequent very often.  This means you will likely have no idea you even have a problem with mice until their numbers get much bigger.

It can be very difficult to keep these small creatures out of your home.  Thanks to the fact their skulls are as small as a dime they can make their way into very small openings.  They also do not need a lot of food and water to survive.

You definitely do not want these small creatures in your home.  Not only will they eat your food, but they can also contaminate it too.  Humans can get infected with various diseases because of mice, with some of them being very serious.

Mice can also cause significant damage to your home.  They spend a lot of time chewing and will gnaw on virtually anything they find including wood and insulation.  Electrical wires are a common target too which can cause electrical fires.

You should stay on the lookout for signs you have a mouse problem.  You will notice droppings with pointed ends.  If there are any dusty areas in your home, then you will be able to spot their trails more easily.  Mice also leave small grease marks against the walls.

If you only see one mouse, then one option is to use a snap trap to get rid of it.  However, having a few traps around your home will do little to combat a large population of mice.

In this case, you would likely need to use a pesticide.  It is vital for you to read the directions carefully and follow them.  These chemicals are very hazardous when applied incorrectly.

Bait stations are another option.  As their name suggests, they will try to lure mice to their demise.  These bait stations are best placed in obscure locations, both inside and outside your home.

Make sure you keep food stored away properly. You do not want them eating and contaminating it.  Use a container with a tight-fitting lid so they cannot smell the potential source of food.

As the winter weather approaches, you may have to deal with mice trying to get into your home.  If you follow these tips, hopefully you will not have that much of a problem.
