When it comes to carpets there are so many different styles, colors, and material to choose from. Usually there is at least one room in a home that has carpeting. Carpets are great because they are comfy on the feet to walk on, and they are great to lie on floor with the kids or the dogs. Although many people are going to hardwood floors today, carpets are still the number one flooring in North America.

Usually carpets are found in the bedrooms,Carpets: So Many Styles To Choose From Articles this adds a level of comfort to the room, and when you get up out of bed your feet will not land on a cold floor. Carpets can go throughout the whole house, but they are less common in the kitchen and bathrooms. Personally I would not put carpeting in the dining room either, I would rather have an area rug, this would be easier to clean or replace if it get damaged from food or drink spillage. Carpets are great for the living room, because there are many times when children love to just lie on the floor with some pillows and blankets and watch TV.

When you decide to put carpets in your home or replace existing carpets then you need to choose the carpeting based on your home's carpet needs and not on the visual appearance of the carpet. This is so important because not all carpets are created equally; there is a wide variety of carpet fibers to choose from. These fibers include the very popular nylon, acrylic man-made fibers, polyester, and a mixed blend of these fibers.

When it comes to the different types of carpets there is a huge selection. These different types are called level loop, multi-level loop, Saxony, cable, plush or also called cut pile, and Velvet. The most common type of carpet is the multi-level loop, this uses different heights of the loops, some are left uncut and some are cut to create different textures and patterns. The loop style is where all the loops have been cut to the same height. Saxony is made from heavy yarn that has been firmly twisted.

Cable carpets are made of thick, twisted yarns; these are usually very soft and thick and are great for the living room. Plush carpet is also called cut pile. These carpets have a level surface that has been created by cutting all the twisted yarn to the same length. The last type of carpet of called Velvet, or smooth velvet because it has been cut many times to make it look like velvet. This carpet is very elegant looking and is best used in formal settings.

New to the market are carpet tiles. These are great for homes where their carpets receive a high amount of traffic. These tiles come in manageable squares, and are available in all the basic carpet types and styles. Carpet tiles come either with a sticky back that you simply peel and stick on the floor, or there are some that you have to put down a type of glue and then put them down. These are fantastic because if you have an area that gets severely stained or damaged you simply pull up that carpet square and replace it with a new one. This way you only have to replace a piece of the carpet and not the whole thing, in the long run these will save you a lot of money.

Unless you know how to properly install carpet you should leave it to the professionals. Installing carpets require certain tools to properly do the job. If it is not done and cut correctly then it will not look right and it might not be tight enough, so you get bumps and ridges in the carpet.

Carpets are still the number one flooring choice for homes and businesses in North America. Even though many people are going to hardwoods, carpets will still be found in at least one room in every home.
