Choosing a Claw Foot Faucet

For those of us that enjoy a relaxing soak in a claw foot bathtub, we realize that there is nothing quite like the experience and what it can provide for us after a difficult.  Even though this is a very stable item in the home, one that rarely ever needs any attention outside of cleaning, there may be times when ever we want to change the look to a certain extent.  One of the easiest ways to do this is to change the claw foot faucet that is on the tub but there are several options that need to be kept in mind whenever we are doing so.First of all, we may be limited to a certain extent in the type or style of the claw foot faucet that we can choose.  For example, if there are pre-drilled holes in the tub we need to make sure that we are going with the same type of fixture and to make sure that the size matches properly.  This would be the case regardless of whether the existing faucet comes to the side of the tub or through the rim.  It is possible for you to cap these holes and to go with a different style, but most people would not be interested in doing this for aesthetic reasons.If you do not have pre-existing holes in the side of your bathtub, there are a number of different options that are available to you.  You could drill the holes in the tub, if you are interested in a tub wall mount or rim mount claw foot faucet assembly, or you could choose either a freestanding or wall mount variety faucet.  The latter two are an excellent choice, especially if you have a tub that is equipped for relaxing at either end, such as a double slipper.  Having the water come in from over the side of the tub can open either end up for you.Another thing that may need kept in mind is if you have a jetted clawfoot tub.  Many times, these faucet assemblies need to be attached directly into the lines that are also feeding the jets.  Although it is possible for you to do this by running the feed lines from the existing faucet location to where the jetted clawfoot tub feeds enter into the tub, it is a much easier and neater option if you include both at the same area.One final thing that you may want to consider is including some optional elements to your claw foot faucet, such as a shower.  Some of the shower assemblies that come with these faucets have a very classic look and it would be easy for you to find one that fits in with the existing decor of the bathroom and other features of the tub.  In doing so, you will be increasing the functionality of the tub and providing yourself and your guest with the ability to take a shower as well.
