The situation you are in may cause you to be tempted to accept a kind offer from a traveling contractor even if the cost sounds high. If you feel convinced that someone is trustworthy, still do not decide anything right then. Research the address they give you and ask for references. If they are not willing to take the time to give you any kind of proof of their reputability then you should know that they are probably not going to be a reliable company.

Instead of jumping into something, you are always better off taking the time to go on the internet and research several companies. You should give the companies a call and find out if they are available to help you even with how busy it is. You should ask about what they are charging and compare among the various places. Even a local business could try to hike they're prices when the demand is high.

You should also ask about their crew. Make sure they have a large enough crew to get the job done in a reasonable amount of time. Also make sure that the crew is a reputable one and that the company has done background checks on them before allowing them to work.

When you begin to think desperately, take a deep breath. Do what you can right then to protect your home, and research the companies that are in your area.
