Don't just go for the latest fashion when it comes to bedding. Get the bedding that is right for you.

When designing your bedroom it is important not to select your bedding until you have a few things worked out regarding your overall theme. If you go to the store and choose the latest fashion in bedding sets,Design versus Fashion in Bedding Articles you may find that it does not help you create the look you really want.

Your Room Features

The first thing to do is to decide the kind of bedroom you want. Is it formal or informal? Will it be ultra feminine, masculine or neutral? Is it for a guest or child or adult? You have to take into consideration the tastes of whoever will sleep there if it is not you and you alone. It is also a good idea to think about the fixed architectural and other features of the room. Does it get the sun and in which part of the day? Does it have a high ceiling or low oak beams? Is it part of a country cottage or  stately home? Is your home contemporary or traditional?

Current Styles on Offer

Once you have an idea of the overall theme for your bedroom design cast an eye over the bedding available in your local department store or bedding outlet. You may find inspiration there and perhaps just the bedding set you need will be on display. On the other hand the latest fashionable bedding may not fit in with your design and you have to look at the traditional or kids bedding which is less likely to be in such prominent display at the store.

Use The Bedding Colors

Once you have selected your bedding in the right style and in colors you like you can use it to design the color scheme for the rest of the room. At least you can if you have a patterned design with a number of colors in it. If you chose plain bedding you will have to work a little harder on using that to tie in colors in the rest of the room.
