Safe environmentally friendly products or harsh, chemical products. What produce the best results? In this article, we take a look at the pros and cons of both.
OK…. Put your hand up if you think that the harsh, chemical cleaners will do a far superior clean of your house than the natural stuff? Urgh………!! I am one of those that thought this way.
I just thought because it was chemical based, it would get into the scum and dirt in my house and clean it all away. But then giving it some more thought, the more I thought about the products on my bench tops and floors… The more uncomfortable I felt about this whole process.
Firstly we would ultimately be consuming this chemical laden cocktail by our hands on the benches that touch our mouths or our sweet, innocent little babies that lick everything. And while the chemicals may make my house clean, the idea of consuming it made me very worried.
But secondly, once the chemicals are used, where do they go? Do they get poured down the sink? Into the drain? Into our waterways? Harming poor, innocent animals.
My discomfort around this issue slowly started to turn into disgust.
Anyhow, I decided to go to other side, the land of greenies, and environmentally friendly stuff…. I have to admit, I was sceptical about the end product ie. Would my house be clean!! There was only one way to find out and that was to give it a go.
Ok…. So here goes….
The products smelled great. Natural actually, like lovely essential oils. – TICK
They sprayed onto my bench tops nicely and effectively removed the dirt and grime – TICK, TICK
So I’ve started with the all-purpose cleaner and have used it around my house. To say I’m impressed is an understatement. The product has cleaned just as effectively as the chemical cleaner… But I can seriously breathe/ sleep easy knowing that I am not causing any harm to myself/ my family or the environment.
I’ve decided now to extend my experiment across to floor cleaners, washing detergents etc and I’ll keep you updated on my progress. I’d definitely encourage you to have a look at trying a similar experiment, the results will make you really happy.
