For New Years – consider using the door as a place to house the numbers of the new year. For example, if it is going to be 2011, cut out big 2011 out of paper and tape to the door. You can make these out of poster board, buy them precut from the local party supply store of use a series of pieces of construction paper. The best colors to do this in would be black and gold or black and silver. You should feel free to be creative with this. Fourth of July - What a better way to celebrate our nation’s birthday than with a giant garage door American flag. You can literally turn your door into an American flag, talk about patriotic. Start by buying some pre-cut stars from the local school supply store. Then, stock up on some red, white and blue construction paper. Arrange whole pieces of the constriction paper in stripes across the door, alternating between red ad white stripes. Then, place enough pieces of blue paper in the upper left hand corner to make the box like the flag. Finish it off by placing the stars on the blue box.

Halloween – There is nothing more frightening than spiders, so for Halloween, transform your garage door into a big spider’s web, with a giant spider. You can start by creating the spider’s body using crumpled up pieces of newspaper that you have spray painted black. Arrange a cluster of these pieces on the center of the door. To make the legs of the spider, you will want to use old wrapping paper tubes or paper towel tubes put together, all spray painted black.

Christmas – Christmas is all about giving, so what better way to decorate your garage door, than as a huge gift. Use some Christmas wrapping paper to completely cover the door. Make a cross with ribbon up the door and across the door, top it off with a giant bow and you have yourself a big present!
