If you have carpet in your home,Get That Spot before it Dries in your Carpet Articles then you should already know how difficult it can be to prevent stains from affecting it.  If a stain does happen to occur, it is vital for you to remove it before it dries in your carpet.  Failure to do so will make it very difficult, if not impossible to remove the spot.

The first thing you need to do when you spill something on your carpet is to blot it dry using a white paper towel.  You should never scrub the spot in an attempt to get it up.   By scrubbing the stain, you will only be working to spread it around on the carpet even more.

It is also best for you to work from the outside in when trying to get up the stain.  If you work from the inside out, you will again be helping to spread it.

There are various cleaning agents you can use to get spots out of your carpet.  Some of them will discolor or otherwise damage your carpet if you use them.  Therefore, you will need to test out any cleaning agent on a small area of your carpet before using it to get out spots and stains.

As mentioned, there are all types of stains you can get.  Instead of using potentially harmful cleaning solutions, you may want to consider using a few natural substances instead.  White vinegar usually works really well to get out water-soluble stains such as sodas, ice cream, milk, and latex paint.  If someone tracks mud into your home, then you can also get it out using white vinegar.

If you regularly use candles in your home, then you may spill candle wax on your carpet at some point.  One of the easiest ways to get this type of spot out is to use a warm iron over a paper towel to soften the wax up and get it to stick to the paper towel.

Whenever you are trying to clean your carpet, it is important for you to get up as much moisture as you can.  If the carpet is left too wet, then you mold and mildew may develop beneath it.  After you have finished getting the spot out of your carpet, you should put a few paper towels over the object to help it dry faster.  Put a book or another relatively heavy object over the stack of paper towels too.
