A split system heat pump has two separate components to the heating and air conditioning system. The inside component found in a split system heat pump is called an air handler. The outside component in a split system heat pump is called the outside section heat pump. Heat pumps split systems are the most common type of heating and air conditioning unit.

If you are looking for ways to lower your heating and cooling costs,Heat Pump Split System Articles you should look into a heat pump split system.  Though a heat pump split system can be expensive to install, in the long run the system will save you money.  A heat pump split system is more energy efficient than a standard furnace and air conditioner system.

The heat pump split system moves heat from a warmer place into a cooler one.  For example, during the summer, the heat pump split system will move the heat from your house into the outdoors, leaving cooler air in the house.  When the heat pump is bringing warm air into the house in the winter, you may use solar heat or heat from the ground, also called geothermal heat.  Because the temperature underground stays more stable, geothermal heat is ideal for your heating and cooling needs.  In the summer, the ground is cool, allowing you to cool your home for a fraction of the cost of a traditional air conditioner.  In the winter, the ground retains heat from the summer and you can heat your home for less than what you would pay for a heating system that needs to generate the heat that is pumped through the system.

Since you are not generating the heat with heat pumps split system, the cost of running the system is less than what you would pay for a traditional heating system.  In addition to using less energy, the split pump heat system will reduce the amount of humidity in your home.  Because the system moves the warm air around, the humidity stays with the air that is moved out of the living area.

If you live in an area that has a moderate climate, a heat pump split system is the ideal heating and cooling system for your home.  If you live in an area where the temperature regularly drops below 25 degrees Fahrenheit, you will need a secondary heating source for your home.  You can still use a heat pumps split system, but you will need an oil, gas or electric furnace to warm your home in the middle of the winter.

If you live in an area that doesn’t get cold in the winter, you may consider a ductless or mini- split heat pump system.  These systems can help you save money while you bring central air conditioning to your home.  A ductless heat pump system gives you the whole house cooling of a central air conditioning system with the flexibility of room or window air conditioners.  A ductless unit has one outdoor cooling unit serving many separate indoor units, with the cooled air blown into the rooms by small fans in the individual evaporator units.
