Another common maintenance item that you can do that will keep your heating system happy is clean the outdoor equipment. Leaves, twigs and other debris can gather around the equipment causing it to malfunction or struggle to work at its best. By removing some of this debris, you will keep the function of the heater at a premium.

One last item that you can care for on your own is checking the thermostat every once in a while to ensure that it is working properly. This may mean occasionally changing the batteries or replacing other inner workings.

Although nothing can replace the good a professional check-up can do for your heating system, you may be able to do some of the easier maintenance yourself.
