Rural parts of the UK which have been declared national parks by the government like the New Forest in Hampshire are expected to see many rental properties divided into flats, annexes and loft conversions as the demand for affordable housing increases over the next 25 years.

Loft conversions have accounted for a significant proportion of building services provided in Hampshire during 2009 and the trend is set to continue with massive pressure for development in such areas.

Annexes and loft conversions together look likely to be the short-term answer to the currently high demand for housing across the south-east of England as fewer acres are being designated for new-build houses than in the recent past.
