When your HVAC system is on the fritz,Looking for an HVAC Company? Articles time is of the essence to get it fixed and up and running again. Start by finding a company that is current on their license, is insured and has a physical address they work out of. These are just the very basic starting points to begin your search.

If you are not sure where to begin your search for heating and cooling company there are three professional organizations that could probably help you including the ACCA, ASHRAE and the RSES. Look for companies that are members of these professional organizations because this is usually an indicator that the company is striving for excellence and self-regulating themselves to meet the industrial standards.

If you are just getting your system repaired you may not need to be as thorough in your search as you would be if you are planning to have a system installed or updated. For more extensive investigation, start by asking to see recent verification of the company's general liability insurance as well as their workers compensation insurance. This protects both you and your property against any liability damage or claims to workers compensation. If the company is not providing workers comp, which some states don't require the company to do, and the worker is injured on your property doing their job, they can actually sue your homeowners insurance for their injuries, medical care, and lost wages.

As a precaution if you are having a new system installed you may also want to call up your insurance company and ask if there are any insurance considerations that you need to be aware of beforehand.
You should also try to find an HVAC company that is available or at least reachable 24/7. If you are having problems with your system and have an actual emergency you do not want a company that does not answer the phones after five o'clock or on weekends.

And finally many people find their heating and cooling companies through referrals and word of mouth, which is a good place to start but not where you should stop. Keep in mind that one person's referral may be another person's nightmare so ask the company itself for a list of references that you can check and then actually check them.

Also, don't get any work done without a written contract that spells out specifically what you are being charged for in regards to labor and materials. A written contract should also include the starting date and finishing date as well as the maximum number days that you would be without heat or air conditioning while the system is worked on and what if any compensation the company will give you if they go over the estimated finish date or days you will be without service.

If you follow these tips, you should be able to find an HVAC Company that you can trust to do the job right and get your heating and cooling system up and running again or installed properly in no time at all.
