Office Chairs For All Day Comfort
The typical office worker will spend twice the time in his or her office chair on a daily basis than the amount spent in a chair at home. While many office workers do not get to choose their chairs, those that do make the choice should choose comfortable office chairs.
Comfort in your office chair is a key to a productive day. This is also true for the your employees. If they are uncomfortable in their chair, they will take more breaks and spend less time actually producing results.
Many office chairs can be adjusted in different ways to provide for comfort. An important adjustment is the height of the chair. You will not be comfortable if your feet do not touch the floor or if your knees are folded into your chin. Adjustment of modern office chairs is by means of a pneumatic cylinder that adds a bit of springiness to your chair.
For a chair to be comfortable, it must also provide the right amount of back support. Back support is especially necessary for persons who use a keyboard or even a typewriter for most of the day.
Some of the newer office chairs available have a mesh back and or seat to allow for airflow. Others are made of a molded plastic with ventilation holes. Of course, there are still the traditional office chairs available with either cloth or leather covers. Cloth covers are less likely to cause problems with perspiration, although leather covers are easier to keep clean.
You will want to avoid office chairs that have arms that cannot be removed or are not adjustable. These arms are often in the way for desk use and may cause you to sit unnaturally while at the keyboard. This can lead to problems with the wrist such as carpal tunnel syndrome which may require surgery to correct. The arms on chairs should not catch under your desk.
Persons who must stand or work at counter height may prefer a chair that is at a stool height. These chairs offer back support that is not found in a stool. They often have a foot support that is in the shape of a ring circling the chair. These chairs offer relief from standing all day long, but still allow you to complete your work effectively.
You can find office chairs at office supply stores or online. There is a very large variety of chairs from which to choose, so one is sure to meet your needs. Before purchase of any chair, it is suggested that you first have a seat in the chair. Visit an office supply store and try the chairs out, then check online for the best prices. Look for stores the provide free shipping and handling to increase your savings even more.
