Pool Liners and Their Cleaning Process
Pool liners are not difficult to clean, but the task does take some time and planning. It is best to do this task on a regularly scheduled basis.
Having the proper supplies for cleaning pool liners is the first step to doing a proper and thorough cleaning. You will need a nylon pool brush, a sponge, a washcloth, cleaning solution, a bucket and warm water. You will also need access to your garden hose and a sump pump. You should only use cleaning solutions that are recommended by the manufacturer of your particular liner. If you are unsure of what to use, contact your chemical supplier for a recommendation.
Pool liners should be brushed throughout the swimming season. It is best to do this on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. This will help keep buildup to a minimum and make the end-of-season cleaning a much simpler process. When you are ready to do a full cleaning, you will need to drain all the water to prepare the liner for cleaning. This may seem arduous but it is really the easiest way to do a thorough cleaning.
Once all the water has been drained, you are ready to begin cleaning. Using your bucket, mix warm water with your cleaning solution and begin working in small sections. Be careful not to scrub too vigorously as pool liners are subject to tearing. Difficult stains may require a little more cleaning solution or a different method of scrubbing (sponge vs. brush) and a little patience.
The next step to cleaning pool liners is a thorough rinsing. Rinse the liner completely to ensure that all of the cleaning solution has been removed then inspect the liner to make sure there are no lingering stains. This is also a good time to double check for any rips or tears. After you are done rinsing, pump the remaining water out of the pool. Once all of the dirty water has been removed, you can add clean, fresh water and then any chemicals that are needed.
This type of equipment can last a long time if they are cared for properly. Protect your investment by setting and maintaining a routine schedule for big tasks such as this. Neglecting to care properly for your equipment will cause many problems that could otherwise be prevented. By keeping your backyard oasis clean, you will be able to enjoy it for years to come.
