Portable toilets are not glamorous nor are they fancy. Typically blue or green (and occasionally other colors) these short-term bathroom solutions can be found at air shows,Portable Toilets - Convenient Solutions When Mother Nature Calls Articles ball fields, and just about any outdoor gathering where traditional bathrooms are not available. Some people rent them for birthdays and weddings, although you will not likely see the bride availing herself of the facilities! While these types of bathrooms are not the choice of most people on a routine basis, nearly everyone has used one at one time or another.

If you find yourself at a concert or picnic where portable toilets are the facilities of choice, do yourself a favor and be sure to lock the door. When you slide the lock on the inside of the door, a red indicator is exposed on the outside which lets everyone know that the unit is occupied. Many are those who have been embarrassed by forgetting this small detail.

While inside the unit, you will not have much room. If you are fortunate enough to have a relatively clean one, you should be able to take care of business without much fuss. Keep in mind that even “clean” portable toilets are likely crawling with germs, and you will need to clean your hands once you have used the facilities.

Upon exiting the plastic bathroom, you will want to find a way to clean and sanitize your hands. Thankfully, many public events now have wash stations that provide a place to clean the germs away. If a wash station is available to you, please use it! Sometimes there are hand sanitizer stations instead of or alongside the wash station. Whatever method you choose, please do not just walk away from the portable toilets without cleaning your hands.

Using portable toilets may seem reminiscent of a day gone by, when the little brown house out back was the bathroom for the family. While outhouses are the subject of yesteryear, scientific advancements make today’s chemical bathrooms more pleasant than those little sheds. Made of plastic, today’s units are able to be completely cleaned and sanitzed between events. Again, these units are not glamorous, but they meet the need when mother nature comes calling.

So the next time you are at an outdoor event, you can choose to hold it or you can avail yourself of the chemical wonders of the bathroom world. Just make sure you lock that door, and remember to wash those hands once you are done.
