Start A New Annual Celebration In Your Neighborhood

An interesting and fun way to bring some new life into your new neighborhood is getting a new tradition started. My neighborhood and my city is a melting pot of many different cultures. We could put on several separate culture based events with all the different kinds of people or just one that has something for several at once. This is just one idea of the way you can bring some new life and energy into your area. If you are one of the many people that have recently put down roots with their families in charming older neighborhoods that need some new energy, this is a good idea for you.

An international fair will attract people from all over the city. These things get pretty big sometimes. Rather than having a large number of nationalities showcased you could just have a few for simplicity sake. You could leave this up to how many people are interested as well. You could have dance troupes from dance schools in the city. You can invite restaurants to showcase their specialty dishes. There could be singing and prizes as well.

Before you start calling in your friends to help check out what you need to know about permits and licenses from the city. You are not the first to do something like this so it should be pretty easy to find out all the rules and regulations. These vary from city to city. Obviously if you are thinking about this as a possibility then you have a space close by that you may be able to use. Again, if it is city property you need to find out about the rules to using it. It is always nice to put this sort of thing on in nice weather outside. If it is going to be a major production you may want a few days for it.

The next step in getting your event underway is more organizing. If this will be the first of many events, you need to have a website created. This can be done with an inexpensive web host or you can hire a graphics designer. You may have one in the neighborhood so check into free help whenever you can. It is for a good cause after all. You want corporate sponsors to donate funds and goods and a decent website will help to sell them on your plan. You will need to look into ordering some custom promotional merchandise as well. These are good to sell because they will help to remind people about what a fun time they had and that there will be another one coming up. You can also put you sponsors name somewhere on the items. If you use a t-shirt you can put your festival info on front and the sponsors on the back.

There are so many different possibilities for this event. It will turn into a moneymaker for all involved if you do it the right way. Including the neighborhood. Don't forget that one of the main reasons that you are doing this is to bring new life into your neighborhood. Advertise the fact that some of the funds will be going into refurbishing the area. You can plant some new trees and flowers along public spaces. There is the possibility of using some funds to help people get overgrown yards trimmed and trash out of yards, especially for older folks. If there isn't enough money in the city budget to pay for your neighborhood improvements then do it yourself!
