Be sure to check that you always unplug it first before starting the repair job on your garbage disposal.

The first thing you have to perform is a thorough check-up to know which is really causing the problem. Know if there are clogs or leaks. Make sure to check as well if the breakers have tripped or the flywheel has been stuck.

To repair clogs or leaks, you only need to remove any debris that is causing the blockage or tighten all connections to prevent leakage. Make sure that you check if the pipes need replacing if the clog is not solved by removing the food particles stuck in the sink. It is important that you also replace the seal and the drain gasket so that there will be no more leaks and clogging.

There will also be instances when you need to fix the circuit breakers or the flywheel. For the circuit breakers, you have to flip off the switch and reset the disposal. If it's due to the flywheel, you have to apply a hex wrench and rotate it until the flywheel is loosened.
