On the subject of power tools,You Get More Value Out of a High Quality Power Tool Articles you have a lot to choose from. You have a lot of styles, but also a ton of brands that you can choose from. Many people don't know a whole lot about the brand or the manufacturer; they often just purchase it because of the price point. This is okay, as long as you know what you are getting into and keep your expectations minimal.
Sometimes you will get lucky and get a fine tool that isn't name brand and it will last a long time. I have a couple of these types of tools, but I don't go in counting on that kind of luck. That is why it is necessary to do your homework, but it is also important to know what kind of value that you are searching for. If you are just looking for something to get you through the job and have no intention of using the tool again, then you can go with something cheap and hope that it gets you through that activity.
Alternatively, if you are a contractor or a serious do it yourself kind of person, then you know that you get what you pay for and it isn't worth going for the cheap items. When you make your living with your hands and your tools, then you know the importance of getting a quality product for a reasonable price. The value stretches out over the life of the tool and the longer it lasts and the more work that you get done, then the more worthwhile the tool.
There is a massive difference between price and cost. Price is the basic way to look at what something will cost you out of pocket at the moment. Cost is what you get from the value of the tool and what you spend by buying an inferior item. It costs you more in time, which is money and it cost you in the work that you can't get done because you are waiting for your tool to be repaired or are out hunting for a replacement.
This is why it is frequently better to go with a reputable brand, a brand that you know and trust will give you a much better return on investment. In the end, you have to pick something that you are really comfortable with. You can go the other way, but you will be taking a chance to achieve it.
