All You Have To Know On Why You Need A Mailing List
This article is all about information on why you need a mailing list, and how important it is to your business. You can make money without, but…Not every successful internet marketer has a large, responsive mailing list. Indeed, I know of many marketers who claim that they cannot build a mailing list however hard they try, and have therefore fashioned their business in such a way that it can survive without a list. Making money without a mailing list is very difficult, and becoming increasingly more so by the day as the internet marketing business becomes ever more competitive.
You can make money without, but...Not every successful internet marketer has a large, responsive mailing list.
These people are working around a problem which they themselves would be more than willing to solve. There is no doubt that the crème de la crème of the internet marketing industry have all got huge and extremely responsive mailing lists.
Like all businesses and industries, internet marketing has its own jargon and 'catchphrases', one of the most common of which is 'the money is in the list'. While I would always add the word 'responsive' to this mantra, nevertheless I would in agree that this is true for the vast majority of successful marketers.
Of course, when people initially signup for your mailing list they are not going to be responsive subscribers by nature. It is up to you to harness your mailing list and resources well, to turn these people from being relatively passive into responsive and enthusiastic readers of your newsletter.
Thus, the success of your efforts to earn money from your mailing list and therefore of your business largely depends on your ability to build a relationship with your subscribers.
Building a relationship. You cannot and should not underestimate the importance of building trust with the people on your list, while understanding their needs and wants is also of extreme importance.
At the same time, do not lose sight of the fact that every subscriber is a real human being, and not just a name on a list. As soon as you start treating your subscribers as names only, your ability to earn their trust and respect is going to be seriously impaired.
Having your own responsive list means that, in the simplest scenario, every time you create a new product or find a terrific new affiliate program, you already have a captive audience for your promotional message.
This is not, however, the only way you can use your mailing list, as you will read later.
While it is not 100% cast-in-stone, it does tend to follow that the bigger and more responsive your mailing list is, the more sales you are likely to make and therefore the higher the revenues of your business are going to be.
Nevertheless, it is important that when you are striving to build a mailing list for an internet marketing business, you should not lose sight of the primary reason that you are doing so.
While over time you will earn the trust and respect of many of your subscribers, and perhaps even become friendly with and a confidante to many of them, list building is essentially about making money as much as it is about giving valuable free information away.
Managing and controlling your mailing list is therefore a fine balancing act between giving away free materials that your subscribers enjoy and can use, while continuing to bring appropriate commercial products and services to their attention.
As long as your subscribers can genuinely see that you are doing this as much for their benefit as for your own, then you can almost guarantee that your list will be responsive, and that people will buy on your recommendations.
Always keeping this necessary balance at the forefront of your mind is a critical element in keeping your list members happy and therefore responsive.
