September 15, 2008 was the date that Myspace published the names of the corporate sponsors who might become a part of what could be termed the biggest discovery in online advertising or Internet marketing.

Sony Pictures,Myspace Changes the Mode of Online Advertising through Music Articles Toyota and McDonalds are a few large companies that have been a part of the newest changes to Myspace music. The social networking website was responsible for building partnerships with numerous recording labels that include Warner Music, Sony BMG and Universal Music. The partnerships will let them present ads on their music website, depending on what the person is seeking. These ads will enable users to download their favorite music or players at a price they can afford or for free.

The head of Myspace Sales and Marketing, Jeff Berman, has stated that this is the biggest endeavor since the launch of Myspace. Hopefully, this will cause users to change how they look for, use and experience music.

The System Works Like This -

To download these songs for free may be unbelievable. These companies have designed a plan to sponsor free music downloads. For example, Toyota will be sponsoring in Myspace for one year. This is especially true on Toyota Tuesdays. They will have the capability to make suggestions of what types of songs or music for Myspace users. Another example is Sony, who will be adding skins of upcoming movies to the playlists of each user for one week.  Due to this, these ads are displayed all over Myspace pages. Myspace has millions of subscribers and can provide higher traffic and conversion rates for the above named companies.

Going up Against iTunes

One of the most popular music download websites on the World Wide Web is iTunes. There are many new artists that depend on the exposure that iTunes can give them on their new songs or albums. The advantage and problem to using Myspace Music is that you have to pay for every download. Because the cost is so low, you are provided with a new way of enjoying music and being able to save your favorite songs to a playlist.

There is more advertising revenue available to Myspace than iTunes, due to it's sponsors. They will enjoy a share of the advertising profits, as well as being able to give the struggling music industry a boost.

How Will This Play Out

What we need to watch out for and the real challenge is to see how effective ads on websites like Myspace become. We are still waiting on results from the sponsors, but everyone is optimistic.
