Proxies and VPNs to get an Australian IP address

Using an IP address from a different country can do a couple of things for you, and there's a couple of reasons why you might need this.  It may be that you're a native of that country and need to access stuff from back home, or it may be that you are from somewhere else but have the same desire.  The good news is that VPN services don't differentiate, and no matter where you're from, you can get an IP address from just about any other place. The same is true for an Australian IP address.Whatever the reason for you wanting to get an Australian IP address, you can do so with proxies and virtual private networks.  Different tasks will have different requirements however. For example, if you want to stream live sports from Australian sites, through a proxy might be able to get you past filters, it may not be fast or reliable enough to stream continuously.  A VPN might be better equipped to handle this kind of task.  However, if you're streaming with OpenVPN, security protocols may also slow you down, and PPTP VPN may be your best bet.Proxies are probably best for straight browsing.  Stuff like unblocking Facebook from local networks (like at work and school).  This would work if you wan to use Facebook at work, and need to change your IP address, but at the same time don't want to change the country of your IP.  In this case, even though you're already in Australia, you would still need an anonymous IP address from Australia.  Unblocking Facebook from countries that block it may prove move difficult, as proxies are usually the first to go in places where they don't want users changing their IP address.VPNs are better for doing more than browsing.  Though proxies will let you stream, not all are fast enough or reliable enough to handle the task.  Software, programs, apps, and other tasks that are to be done online, with an Australian IP address, should use a VPN.  A VPN will encrypt and tunnel all activities on your computer.  For this reason, VPNs are also used for more privacy sensitive transactions like money, data, and private conversations that are done over public networks.  Australia IPs aren't easy to find on VPN networks, but some do exist.
