George Lewis was arrested before midnight in the Fort Edward village,Fugitive Caught After Being Alleged For A Multi-State Crime Spree Articles which is north to Albany New York. He is a child rape suspect who had cut off his monitoring bracelet, in order to go on this heist. Police say that they had spotted the criminal driving a Grand Cherokee Jeep without a license plate. When they tried to stop him, Lewis did not stop the car and sped away instead.

The local patrol units were notified and within a short time, the police received numerous calls reporting that a vehicle had just drove into the Hudson river. The Fort Edward Police Chief named Justin Durway, in an interview with the WBZ News Radio 1030 said that George Lewis had actually drove to the edge of the street and did not realize that it was a dead end ahead. He drove down the sloped embankment and went straight into the water. Police Chief Durway also believes that Lewis might have been under the influence of Acid.

The Police told that Lewis then got out of the stinking car and pointed a handgun on a witness. The poor guy was the first one to go up to the car to help Lewis out of the crash. Lewis took the witness hostage and got successful in running away. However, a police dog conveniently tracked him down in the woods. Lewis offered tosurrender and told the police that he had already dropped the gun. The gun was later found and matched the description of the weapon that he had stolen from one of his relatives from Southbridge Mass this September in 2014.

Durway claimed in a news conference on Wednesday that the criminal had misused the gun each time to threaten his victims. Lewis was initially arrested in Southbridge on 5 August for sexual assault on an under 14 child. He was later set out on bond, however, he cut his GPS tracking device on September 15 while leaving the device in the front yard of his victim. He has been suspected of being involved in a number of violence cases since then which include, rapes, kidnappings, robberies and such. These cases have been across Oregon, North Carolina, Indianapolis, Utah, Massachusetts and Colorado. Apparently, Lewis was only driving through Fort Edward when luckily he was spotted by the local police because his Cherokee had no license plates.
